Upgrade Citrix NetScaler firmware

Create full NetScaler backup (System > Backup and Restore)

Use WinSCP to copy the installation package to /var/nsinstall/newfolder (e.g. build-12.0-53.22_nc)

Use PuTTY to extract the installation package:

shell
# cd /var/nsinstall/build-12.0-53.22_nc
# tar -zxvf build-12.0-53.22_nc_32.tgz

Use PuTTY to start the upgrade:

# cd /var/nsinstall/build-12.0-53.22_nc
# ./installns

Reboot

Use PuTTY to check if synchronization is disabled:

> show ha node
> set ha node -hasync disabled (if synchronization is not disabled)
> force failover (or via GUI (System > High availability > force failover)

The secondary NetScaler will now be the primary NetScaler. Test new firmware!

Secondary appliance upgrade:

Use WinSCP to copy the installation package to /var/nsinstall/newfolder (e.g. build-12.0-53.22_nc)

Use PuTTY to extract the installation package:

shell
# cd /var/nsinstall/build-12.0-53.22_nc
# tar -zxvf build-12.0-53.22_nc_32.tgz

Use PuTTY to start the upgrade:

# cd /var/nsinstall/build-12.0-53.22_nc
# ./installns

Reboot

Use PuTTY to failover the primary role back to the original primary NetScaler

> force failover

Verify that the configuration of the secondary appliance is synchronized with that of the primary appliance (System > High Availability)
